"Does music help my writing? Yes, I often make playlists for each of my characters." Irvin Welsh, a novelist.
.: The Playlists concept is simple.
It's about making a playlist for a party.
But it's not usual playlist, it's the playlist of your favourite character.
It's really home-made art project.
How it works? Follow 4 easy steps:
1. Choose a fictional character: from a book, a film or a cartoon, or any other
source.
2. Make a playlist for your character (it means that you are collecting music
tracks which your character likes not you!).
3. Burn CD with the music of your character and bring on the party (or bring
music tracks on your MP3 player).
4. Have some extra materials about your character: photocopies, images or artwork.
Parties with the Playlists project took place so far:
Saturday 18th of August 2007 in London, UK.
Tuesday 11th of September 2007 in Wroclaw, Poland.
The future plans of the project looks as follow:
Allegra Geller, a game designer from the film eXistenZ, is going to produce
her own album,
which will mix together various soundtracks and soundscapes from different film
genres and geographic locations.
You can see her profil here.
Crimson Jihad, a duo of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Robert Fripp from the
novel 'Chapayev and Void' by Viktor Pelevin,
will produce a few tracks exclusively for the Playlists project.
